High Point University junior DJ Hargrave is a dynamic and driven individual who is positioning himself to take the blogging world by storm. DJ runs a blog and website, both by the name of Tailor Made Style, featuring menswear advice and inspiration. He started his blogging career in 2015, and over the past year and a half his work has gotten recognition not only by High Point University but also by top fashion brands and leaders including Express, Urban Outfitters, Macy’s, GQ Magazine and many more.
Hargrave, who was raised in Winston Salem, North Carolina grew up playing basketball and found himself getting into fashion on the game days his team would dress up. During his senior year DJ quit playing basketball, leaving somewhat of a gap in his extracurricular life. He found himself needing a new passion and returned to showcasing his unique style each day. When he got to HPU he was inspired to take his love of fashion and photography and create something incredible from it. Hargrave started reading books about style, menswear, confidence and the effects that all three can have on someone’s life, as well as delving into top men’s fashion magazines such as GQ. Toward the end of his freshman year he started photographing the impressive outfits he would concoct in his dorm room, and one day DJ just created his blog. Something he did on a whim became the greatest passion in his life and really took off the more he pursued blogging success.
DJ has said that his goals with his blog are to empower others to be the best version of themselves through style and to help inform his followers about the world of menswear. Confidence is a common theme among many of his posts as he highlights the importance of strong confidence in order to pull together any and all looks. He posts daily articles six days a week, including advice readers can incorporate into their lives to help them dress and shop better. He also shares tips on his readers’ personal branding and development. As his blog has grown in popularity, it has also started to become more of a “lifestyle” blog with additional posts such as book reviews and travel posts outside of the boundaries of simply fashion. The incredible quality and success of his website got Hargrave an internship with Greensboro Fashion Week this past year. This experience has impassioned DJ even more to pursue further success. DJ is a remarkable young man with impressive drive and talent. It is no doubt that as long as DJ Hargrave desires to be in the world of fashion blogging, he will continue to succeed.
